Here’s How It Works
The process is simple and we are here to walk you through each step of the way. STEP 1: Select the cask(s) you would like to purchase. STEP 2: Each cask comes with full insurance and storage costs in a bonded warehouse in Scotland. STEP 3: Sit back and enjoy ownership and when you are ready to exit, STEP 4: you can sell it, or you can savor it.
Selecting Your Cask
Our cask inventory list is constantly updated which means PEB has access to some of the most coveted and hard to find casks of whisky in the world. These include Macallan, Glenrothes, Isle of Jura, BenRiach, Auchentoshan, Allt-á-Bhainne (used in Chivas’ blends) as well as “ghost” distilleries (like 21 year old Dumbartons finished in a Moscatel, a Marsala and a Sauternes cask).
However, this is not all. We also work with some of the most award-winning newer distilleries to get you access to the best bespoke casks. Currently these include Penderyn, West Midlands, and Tamdhu (not a new distillery but new batches).
You will work directly with a member of our cask concierge team to help you make your selection based on the distillery, type, age, and finishing of the whisky in a cask.
The Exit Strategy
Like any endeavor, there is a time to realize your hard-earned gains. This is where you have a multitude of options as defined below.
Cask Sale
Through Paladin’s extensive network of its client base, distilleries, warehouses, auction houses and other partners, we can assist you to ensure that you get accurate market prices. At PEB, we make exiting your investment simple. One, you agree to a sale price. Two, the cask ownership is transferred within the existing warehouse to the new buyer. ssssretail Bottling
An intriguing opportunity but certainly one that requires meticulous planning to bottle for retail sale. Potentially a higher reward potential which requires some patience to move the inventory. Also, there are additional costs to design, label and seal your bespoke bottles. Yes, you get to sign each bottle!
Personal Delivery
If you decide to take delivery of your consignment, all duties and taxes will be payable to the UK government. However, you still have the option to sell your bottles in the open market or savour them at your leisure. Remember, however, costs for any private use will also include wholesale pricing. See your Purchase Agreement.
Resale Back to Distillery
Many whiskies are used for blending, some are vaunted by the distiller themselves as the market dynamics might have changed and certain vintages are now in popular demand. In certain instances and depending on the cask program, you may have the opportunity to sell your cask back to the distillery.
long term hold
Pass it down to generations, make it rarest of the rare, or simply continue to assess the market at your leisure. This is an option to allow for the whisky to continue to mature in bond knowing that whenever you are ready, so will PEB.
